Everything you need to know about CUET (UG) 2022

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted, by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, with the responsibility of conducting the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CU-CET) on undergraduate and postgraduate level for the central universities across the country. The CU-CET provides an opportunity to the students to take admission in any of the participating Central universities across India.


The Common University Entrance Test- Undergraduate 2022 (CUET (UG) is already open for registration for the academic session 2022-2023 for undergraduate programs in central universities all over the country. CUET (UG) 2022 will give a chance to students all over the country to sit for the entrance test, thus making sure that they have a common platform and fair chance to take admission in their desired course and university. This will give equal opportunities to the students from rural and urban settings, from Tier 1, 2 and 3 cities, and access to a common entrance test. The CUET (UG) is a step towards making the higher education and admission process of Central universities accessible to all the students in the country.


According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), to be eligible for admission in undergraduate programs in any Central university of the country, the clearance of the CUET (UG) is a prerequisite. Then, a merit list will be released by the NTA, and all the Central universities would use the same list to grant admission to the students.


NTA opened the applications for CUET (UG) exam, for the session 2022-23, on 06th April 2022. The application deadline was 06th May 2022. Taking into consideration the requests from many students who want to apply for the CUET (UG) 2022, UGC has extended the deadline till 22nd May 2022 till 05:00pm.


According to M Jagadesh Kumar, the chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), NTA already received more than 9 lakhs applications for the CUET (UG) 2022 by 11 May 2022. The successfully submitted applications are more than 7 lakhs. This is a huge turnout already while the applications are still being accepted till the evening of 22nd May 2022.

Syllabus and Exam Pattern

As per the official test format, the CUET (UG) 2022 is divided into four sections, with one separate language test that would fall into the mandatory section, the two other tests would be domain specific and the last one would be the general exam. The appearing candidate can choose from 13 different languages that are available in section IA.

Besides what is mentioned in section IA, one can select any other additional language. Out of the given 50 questions in the test, the candidate must appear for at least 40 of them. The time limit for the language test would be 45 minutes. As of the domain test, 27 specific topics are given in Section II sectioned as “DOMAIN”.


Eligibility Criteria

For admission in undergraduate programs, the student must have 50% marks falling in the general category, and 45% in SC/ST. There is no age limit declared by the NTA so far. Anyone who has qualified class 12th examination from a recognized board is eligible to apply.


How to register for CUET (UG) 2022?

  • Go to the main website- cuet.samarth.ac.in

  • Fill up your contact address and personal details as part of the registration process.

  • The system will generate an application number for you that you need to fill to complete your registration for the CUET application form.

  • Upload the documents asked ensuring that they are well scanned.

  • Pay the given amount online.

  • Submit your application for the CUET test.

  • Do not forget to download, save, and print the confirmation sheet.


Application fee for CUET (UG) 2022

For general-EWS, general, and OBC-NCL, the fee is 650 and 600 respectively.

For applicants falling into the category of SC, ST, and other categories, the fee is 550.


Don’t wait for the last day to apply.

Apply before 22nd May and check all the details before submitting the application form.

The response from students is overwhelming, however, it is important to see whether NTA can successfully conduct the entrance exam without any hassles. Also, if the technical and academic infrastructure is strong enough to carry on the process smoothly.
